Technique Tuesday: Wet Embossing

Good Morning Stampers! Today I am going to teach you about wet embossing. It actually is quite simple. First, what is wet embossing. Here is a picture of a card I did using wet embossing on the dots on the cupcake top.

As you can see (hopefully) the dots on the cupcake have a white glazed look. It gives the image a little dimension and adds a little extra something to the card.

First of all you need:

  • VersaMark Ink

  • Embossing powder in color of your choice (I used white)

  • Stamps

  • Heat Tool

  • **Optional: Embossing Buddy (to reduce static on paper), Powder Pals (for easier clean up)

Here is how I did it.

1) Stamp your image using the VersaMark Ink.

2) Generously pour the embossing powder over the stamped image

3) Shake off the excess embossing powder (this is where you would use the powder pals).

4) Heat the image with the heat tool until the image is glossy looking.

5) Let it dry for a couple of minutes.

Simple, right! Let me know what you think.

Simply Scrappin: Sunshine Garden

Did you know that Stampin' Up! has a scrapbooking line called: Simply Scrappin? In reality you can use all of your stamps, punches and DSP paper to scrapbook. But...if you are looking for an easy way to scrapbook you should check them out. They come with stickers (more like sticky die cut embelleshments), Designer series paper and 12 x 12 cardstock. You can make many pages with one kit.

Here are a couple pages I did with the Sunshine Garden simply scrappin kit. The flower on top and the border on the bottom are part of the kit. I used it to make a super simple layout. I wanted to show my two daughters who love each other and cant stand each other in a matter of minutes. It is fun to go through photos and put them together on scrapbook pages. I am a simple scrapbooker. I love to do it but don't have the time or patience to spend an hour on each page. So, I really love when I can get some help with page ideas.

Let me know what you think!

Technique Tuesday: How to Create a Clean Bouquet

Welcome to Technique Tuesday!
I am starting a new feature on my blog this week. Every Tuesday I will be featuring a new stamping or scrapping technique. I will give you step by step instructions (maybe even videos, if I can figure that out) so that you can try it yourself.
Today I will show you how to create a clean bouquet with your flower, balloon or other stamps.
INSTRUCTIONS: Simply stamp your center flower first, once on your project, then on scratch paper. Cut out the scratch paper flower and adhere it over your project flower (make sure to match it exactly) using Dotto (so it will come off again easily). Then stamp your surrounding flowers, overlaying your images onto the scratch paper. Remove the scratch paper and you will have a perfect bouquet.
Easy right! Tommorrow I will try this with a birthday balloon card.
Toon in next week for Wet Embossing!!

Onesie Card

I seen this card on Laurenm's blog and did a boy version a couple months ago. This is my girl onesie card. It was pretty simple to make. You just need a 1 3/8 circle punch and scallop punch to make it. You can also add small buttons or eyelets on the bottom for an extra nice touch. You click HERE for directions.

Thoughts and Prayers Tree w/Flower Soft

Like I said earlier, I just got this Thoughts and Prayers stamp set and love it. I love, love, love the tree. I had seen this tree used with Flower Soft (the fuzzy stuff on the leafs of the card) on someone's blog which I can't remember whose (sorry). I had to go out and buy it. I looked so cool in the blog. Once I tried it I was not loving it like I thought I would. Maybe I just had really high expectations for it and got let down. It looks cool but not super-cool, as my daughter would say.
Here is a closer up look at it. You can try it and see for yourself. I bought the Flower soft at a local craft store.
Stamps: Thoughts and Prayers, Sincere Salutations
Ink: Choclate chip
Paper: Kraft, Whisper White, Baja Breeze CS and Parisian Breeze Specialty DSP
Accessories: Ribbon Originals-Valet, Flower Soft (non-SU)

Praying for you...

I got a new stamp set: Thoughts & Prayers. I just love the tree in this stamp set. This tree is also featured in the Decor Elements merchandise. I am thinking about getting it for my craft room. And as you can see from my recent posts I am in a baja breeze and choclate chip phase. Enjoy!
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: Kraft, Baja Breeze, Basic Black CS
Stamps: Thoughts and Prayers

Happy Birthday Sal!

Today is my husband, Sal's birthday! Here is the card I made for him (sorry about the bad lighting). Now I am off to make him a cake, enchiladas, rice and pick up some beans.
For this card I used my new Circle Scissors Cutter. It was so easy to make the circles. I made the first one and then adjusted the size to make a second one slightly smaller. The stamp set I used was Big Bold Birthday.

First Communion Favors

This weekend was a few of my husband's cousin's, kids first communions. One of the moms asked me to do favors for the event. The colors were silver and white. I made her a few different samples and this is the one she choose. I think they turned out really cute. The cross hanging from the ribbon is actually a jewelry making item. I was so excited at how much they added to the favor. Simple and elegant was the look that I was going for. I filled them with some paper shred and dove choclates ;)

Please contact me at mayramt@hotmail.com to order these favors. Remember I can customize your colors and a charm to match your event. These run about 2.50 per favor (price might change a little depending on the charm or choclate is selected)

May is National Scrapbooking Month!

May is National Scrapbooking Month! Okay, I have to confess, I have been very behind with my scrapbooking this year. I feel terrible about it. You know what they say, "the second child gets jipped". I said I would never let that happen but so far I am way more behind with my youngest girl's scrapbook than with my oldest. Well...I am committing myself to do more scrapbooking this month. I will be posting lots of samples all month so that hopefully you will be inspired too.
These pages are samples created by SU. In all of them you will find a creative way to use stamps and other SU products in your pages. Please let me know if you are interested in joining a Stamp & Scrap Social this month. I think the best way to get caught up with scrapbooking is to do it while chatting with friends.
